The Katsina State Safety and Road Traffic Authority (KASSAROTA) has expressed condolences over the death of the Divisional Police Officer of Rimi Local Government Area, CSP Muhammad Sani Kabir, who was killed during a gun battle on Friday while on duty in Katsina State.
In a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Marwana Kofar Sauri, the Director General of KASSAROTA, Major Garba Yahaya Rimi (Rtd.), said the officer died in the line of duty during an exchange of gunfire. Further operational details of the incident were not provided in the statement.
Major Rimi described the late officer as courageous, disciplined and professional, noting that he dedicated his career to the protection of lives and property in Rimi Local Government Area and across the state.
According to him, the officer’s death reflects his commitment to combating crime and insecurity. He added that the deceased demonstrated gallantry and patriotism throughout his service.
The KASSAROTA director-general conveyed the condolences of the authority’s management and marshals to the family of the deceased, the Nigeria Police Force, the Katsina State Government, and residents of Rimi Local Government Area.
Authorities have yet to release further official details regarding the circumstances surrounding the gun battle.
